Payataxi enables taxi companies to take payments for journey bookings by credit and debit card, without the need for a card terminal. By using the Payataxi Virtual Terminal, payments are taken at the time of the journey booking, thereby guaranteeing payment in advance. In addition, payments can also be taken using 3G mobile phone or by the passenger calling our 24 hour payment line.
It’s simple to set up and use and there are no minimum monthly fees, unlike other card acceptance services. You just pay a one-off joining fee and a service charge based upon a percentage of the transaction value. So you only pay us a fee if you have taken card payments from your customers. Payataxi has been developed by Acceptacard Limited, the team behind Payatrader. Launched at the beginning of 2010, Payatrader provides a card acceptance facility to small businesses who offer services in the home. Following the success of that service, Payataxi was piloted with a small number of taxi businesses before launching in November 2010.
The team behind these services have a wealth of experience in the card payment industry, having worked for large banking organisations. Payataxi is provided in conjunction with two UK card payment acquirers and supports acceptance of all Visa, MasterCard and American Express cards.
The security of our services is particularly important to us. Our service complies with the latest security standards laid down by Visa and MasterCard and our Virtual Terminal is protected by a Secure Socket Layer, evidenced by the padlock displayed by your web browser and the https prefix (secure pages only).
